The Cure , The Craft & Process
There are so many aspects to consider when we are making you the perfect soy candles.
Candle making, much like other craft forms, requires allot of patience and hard work. It also requires a little bit of science and an understanding of timing.
Making the you the perfect candle cannot be done in a day . This doesn’t mean it’s impossible. It would be hard. We strive to bring you great products and rushing the process would mean allot less quality.
The process of candle-making is one that takes time, patience, precision, and dedication. The curing time is the most crucial and time-consuming one among those.
The curing process in candle making is where the wax and the fragrance oils incorporate and bind together. It takes time for the wax to set and the scents to find their place in a preferred way.
There are many things to consider while curing a candle. One of them is the temperature at which you infuse the wax with the scents.
Candle making is not a one-step process . There are many things we keep in mind, such as the type of wax, wick, and quality of oils we use .
How Long do Soy Candles Take to Set?
The curing is the process of letting the fragrance oil and wax bind together and allowing them to spread evenly before the wax sets. It takes soy candles around 1-2 weeks to set; in fact, most natural candles require that much time to set correctly.
The longer you let your soy candles cure for, the more scent they will release. This doesn’t mean that you should let them cure for a very long time. It only means that you should let them cure long enough so they can reach max potential.
Do Soy Candles Have Really Have to Cure?
Every candle, whether it’s made with paraffin or natural waxes, needs to be cured. The difference is that certain wax types require a specific curing time.
NOTE: While soy candles need to be cured for longer, compared to paraffin candles, soy candles do not come with paraffin candles’ harmful effects. Paraffin candles need 24-48 hours to be cured before they can burn, while natural candles like soy and coconut need 1-2 weeks.
If we are making your candles fresh due to stock levels we keep them for around 4-5 days before posting once made then asks you to wait to burn . Whilst this seems a little annoying we want you to have the full potential from your candle .
How Soon After You Made a Candle Can We Burn it?
For soy candles, the waiting period is between 1-2 weeks for the fragrance to be strong enough. This means you can burn it sooner. However, you won’t have the best result.
If you don’t wait long enough, the candles will physically burn but will not have a strong scent. To give you an example, when you buy a candle from a store, you don’t really know how long they’ve been cured for - it could be two weeks or two months . The reason why we don’t promise next day delivery on our candles is this reason entirely .
What happens if You Burn Your Candle Too Soon?
If you have requested a made to order candle from us or a candle that is low or not in stock and you burn your candle too soon, you’ll have a candle that burns. However, you’ll have one that has almost no scent or little scent. We will always pop a note usually on date candle was made for a quick guide to time for curing.
